Giving Thanks for God’s Faithful Love (Psalm 107:1-3)
Psalm 107:1 calls us to “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” How does the idea of God’s hesed (faithful love) shape your understanding of gratitude? In what ways have you experienced God’s enduring love in your own life?
God’s Gathering of His People (Psalm 107:3, Isaiah 43:5-7)
Verse 3 celebrates God gathering the exiles “from many lands.” How does this imagery of God bringing His people together resonate with you?
Reflecting on Isaiah 43:5-7, how does God’s promise to gather His people for His glory encourage you in your faith journey?
Wandering in the Wilderness (Psalm 107:4-5)
The psalm describes people wandering in a wasteland, hungry and thirsty, cut off from resources. Does this seem like a reoccurring theme in the Psalms we have studied?
How does this imagery connect to times in your life when you’ve felt spiritually or emotionally “lost?"
What does it mean to you that God sees those who are wandering?
Crying Out and God’s Rescue (Psalm 107:6-7, Hebrews 2:10)
In their distress, the people cried, “Lord, help!” and God led them to safety (vv. 6-7).
How have you seen God respond to cries for help in your own life or others?
How does Hebrews 2:10, which speaks of Jesus as the leader ("pioneer") who brings us to salvation, deepen your understanding of God’s rescue?
Thanksgiving for God’s Provision (Psalm 107:8-9, Luke 1:53)
Verses 8-9 praise God for satisfying the thirsty and filling the hungry.
How has God provided for your needs in times of desperation? As you grow older, have you remained thankful for God's provision in the past?
Reflecting on Luke 1:53, how does God’s provision for the hungry challenge or inspire you to trust Him more fully for the future?
