Overflowing with Thanksgiving
Celebrate God's loving provision with words of thanksgiving.
Psalm 107:1-3
1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
2 Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out!
Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
3 For he has gathered the exiles from many lands,
from east and west, from north and south.
The reason for our gratitude is the expressed and enduring love of God.
Isaiah 43:5-7
5 “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.
I will gather you and your children from east and west.
6 I will say to the north and south,
‘Bring my sons and daughters back to Israel
from the distant corners of the earth.
7 Bring all who claim me as their God,
for I have made them for my glory.
It was I who created them.’”
Matthew 8:11
And I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world—from east and west—and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Psalm 107:4-5
4 Some wandered in the wilderness,
lost and homeless.
5 Hungry and thirsty,
they nearly died.
Within the landscape of life, do you know where you are?
Psalm 107:6-7
6 “LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and he rescued them from their distress.
7 He led them straight to safety,
to a city where they could live.
Admitting your need for help is the first step toward rescue.
Luke 15:17
“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!"
Hebrews 2:10
God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.
Psalm 107:8-9
8 Let them praise the LORD for his great love
and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
9 For he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.
The loving provision of God goes beyond the satisfaction of our physical needs.
Jeremiah 12:5
5 “If racing against mere men makes you tired,
how will you race against horses?
If you stumble and fall on open ground,
what will you do in the thickets near the Jordan?
Matthew 5:6
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.
