Read Matthew 24:1-31

Discerning False Messiahs and Signs (Matt. 24:1-8)
The “birth pains” of false messiahs, wars, famines, and earthquakes remind us to stay grounded in Scripture to avoid deception. In the premillennial view, these signs mark the beginning of end-time events, urging believers to be vigilant. How might another view of the end times (amillennial) intersect with this interpretation?

How can we understand this passage with an "already but not yet" fulfillment perspective? In other words, part of this passage is past (AD 70), some is present, and some is future. In what way can we apply the words of Jesus to our day in time?

How can we distinguish between true and false teachings about Christ’s return in today’s world? Read 1 John 4:1-3 for insight. What practical steps can we take to stay discerning?

Enduring Persecution with Faith (Matt. 24:9-14)
Jesus warns of intense persecution during the tribulation, yet the gospel will reach all nations. This calls believers to remain faithful under pressure and participate in God’s mission, trusting His plan.

Share a time when you faced opposition for your faith. How does Revelation 7:9-14 encourage us to endure persecution? What role can our group play in supporting global missions?

The Abomination of Desolation as a Pivotal Event (Matt. 24:15-22)The “abomination of desolation” signals a critical moment in the tribulation, pointing to the Antichrist’s actions. This reminds us to trust God’s sovereignty even in chaotic times.

Daniel 11:31 and 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 - How do these passages help us understand the “abomination of desolation”?  How are the "seeds" of this event evident today?

The Unmistakable Return of Christ (Matt. 24:23-31)
Christ’s return will be sudden, visible, and glorious, unlike the deceptive claims of false prophets. This assurance encourages believers to live with hope and readiness for His coming.

In light of the context, why would Jesus emphasize the unmistakable nature of His return (Matt. 24:27, 30)?
